Eddie Post-Gutierrez

What better way to kick off 2025 than by spotlighting one of Brooklyn’s coolest talents? Meet Eddie Post-Gutierrez, the skater who moves like a machine on four wheels—and then takes it up a notch by defying gravity on their bike:

If you could live forever, would you? Why or why not?
It’s so tempting to say yes, but wouldn’t living forever ruin the beauty of life? Part of what makes life so beautiful is knowing we only have a limited amount of time, so we’d better make the most of it while we’re here!

Is free will real, or are we all just following a predetermined path?
I sure hope it’s real! Life wouldn’t be very exciting if we were all just going along some pre-written script.

If aliens exist, do you think they question their purpose in the universe too?
There’s no if about it—aliens definitely exist! If they’re capable of consciousness on a level similar to ours, I think those kinds of questions are inevitable. For their sake, I hope they’ve found a satisfying answer.

Is happiness more about the journey or the destination?
Both bring happiness, but in different ways. Destination-based happiness feels like a big burst of elation, but it’s fleeting. Journey-based happiness, though, is more of a long-lasting feeling of contentment. As a skater, my life is all about the journey. You push, stumble, fall, get hurt, but eventually, you get up and try again. Those bumps and bruises you pick up along the way? That’s where true, lasting happiness lies.

Do we create meaning in our lives, or is it already out there waiting to be discovered?
The meaning of life isn’t a great mystery—it’s all about L-O-V-E. Spread it, share it, nurture it in yourself and others. Whatever that looks like to you, if you can live with that four-letter word at the forefront of your spirit, you’ll be able to die happy.

If a parallel universe exists, what do you think your alternate self is doing right now?
Falling in love and settling down with the same people who are my best friends—or worst enemies—in this universe.

Can you name the dog from the cartoon Tom and Jerry without Googling it?
My mom loved that show when I was a kid, so it was on all the time. I remember the big, chained-up bulldog, but I don’t remember his name! Was it Buster?
