Konsume Us
We couldn't stop listening to Inmyhead by Konsume Us. Naturally, we wanted to delve into his thoughts:
You have only 2 posts on your Instagram, what's going on? We are consumed with guesses!
Well, I've been struggling with expression. My mother and grandmother passed away this year, along with an abortion and a miscarriage. I've been stopped by the cops multiple times. I have lost close friends due to cultural and principle differences. I started and lost a job that conflicted with my true values. This year has been a rollercoaster. I rarely talk about it on my page or in real life. My page is about the art of me and Us. I wasn't feeling artsy; in fact, I wasn't feeling myself or anything in this world. I just lost my mother, my beacon, my hope. So, I had to make more light. I went dark for a little. If you're reading this interview, I'll be dropping a song at the beginning of the year, and there is SO much content coming. But I needed time to grieve, rest, and heal, so that I can be an even better Konsume Us.
What do you think is beyond galaxies and cosmos, like what’s beyond all of that?
The noumena. Essentially, it's unknowable to human perception, but SOMETHING does exist. Things like energy, time, and space create an understanding of that SOMETHING, but truly it's beyond our comprehension as beings. All the more reason to experience life. Figuring that stuff out and having beliefs are part of the human existence and are so dope for people to enjoy. My mom used to tell me to have a little faith, so I'm working on that.
Are you a sunny or cloudy weather kind of person?
Cloudy weather. I love the rain, but I also love the sun popping out so I can soak up the sunshine. Everyone needs to sunbathe just a little more, as well as appreciate the stormy days.
What cartoon characters would make a fun presidential debate?
Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. It's basically that now anyway. Different cartoon, same damn looney tunes.
What’s your most controversial opinion?
That gender isn't genuinely real. It's a construct we made, and people spend so much time attacking those who want to understand their identity just because they don't get why. Yes, there can be confusion, but that's with every identity value in people. Let people be people and have their journey. I don't even identify too much with genders at all, which some would say makes me a certain label, but I just typically say I'm a dude because it's chill to be one and I get to help destabilize the patriarchy. I just think gender isn't real; identity is mostly just made up shit from the reflection of ourselves in the world. I wish more people were cool with that and let people be people. I also think people sometimes try too hard for their identity, but that's another topic, lol.
