Rhakim Ali is a fashion designer and, according to his new album, “God’s Favorite Rapper”. At 24, with an Under Armour advertising campaign under his belt, it’s fair to say he’s a rising star and we had to chat:

If you sprouted wings right this instant, where would you fly?

I would probably fly to Brazil. That's a place that's been on my mind lately for some reason. 

What is perfect happiness?

I feel like perfect happiness goes hand in hand with gratitude and contentedness. If you aren't grateful or content with what's going on in your life, you can't achieve happiness.

Please describe NYC with one word.

Extraordinary. I tell people if you want to visit the whole world in a day go to NYC. New York is just really different and I feel like that's why everyone loves it. You can't get New York from anywhere else.

Amidst the chaos of life, what seemingly trivial detail oddly holds a special place in your heart?

Crunchy leaves, for sure. If you're having a bad day, step on some crunchy leaves and all your problems will go away.
