Kennedi Carter
At 21 years old, photography prodigy Kennedi Carter made history capturing Beyoncé for British Vogue, becoming the youngest photographer to create the magazine’s cover. While juggling the joys of motherhood, Kennedi continues to dazzle with her revolutionary vision. Here's what we discussed:
What superpowers did you acquire once you became a parent?
Time management. I am not as time-blind as I used to be. I read somewhere that being a parent means being the curator of somebody else’s life. So now that I’m curating for another, I have no choice but to hold myself accountable.
Which of your photoshoots do you think of often and why?
Definitely my British Vogue cover (featuring Beyoncé). It was an opportunity to show the world how I move as a photographer. I also got to show how I approach and navigate editorial work.
Last time we talked, you mentioned you’d love to photograph Cardi B. For what publication?
i-D Magazine!
If you could be in a movie, which one would it be?
Carmen Jones… Starring as Carmen! Haha.
The weirdest item by your bed?
Vibrator.
